Honestly, i only tried it once and ended up on a curb... lucky i didn't do any damage, but it was enough to discourage me from trying it again haha

its better if you practice in an empty parking lot...dont be afraid to get a little bit of speed up before you go into your drift...many people who first try drifting start at low speeds and it is more difficult that way...dont be afraid to mess up...even the most experienced drifters in the world mess up sometimes

If you are new to drifting start slow, it isn't hard. I personally love to drift in the rain. If you perfect even doing donuts you can figure out how your car moves. I'll give you guys all a tip, when you actually drift through a corner, let go of the steering wheel (just for a split second) and let the car counter steer for itself, then its all throttle control for the most part. I do agree with you Bill, all of the best drifters mess up all the time because they are trying to put their car in the most angle without that rear end momentum coming around on them. So if you drift to the max... expect to loop out.
