350Z Vs. Mustang

Hey guys whatsup, new member.

I have a 2003 Z. For mods I have an AEM CAI and Test Pipes. My friend has an '06 mustang that's modded. I know I can destroy him in the twisties but he has a large edge when we drag. What mods do I need to catch up with him? Is it possible? Mind you cash is tight and I can't afford F/I. Thanks a lot!

well, if you can afford twins, then the only thing i can really recommend you get would be a plenum spacer and maybe a throttle body spacer. thats probably good for about 20hp? maybe you could look into more exhaust mods. cat back, maybe headers as well. other than that, i would do turbos all the way.

true....true....If the stang already has mods, you will not be able to beat him with just bolt ons. Z33 is right, you're only chance is NOS, how bad do you want to beat him?

ah very good comparison....but exactly the point. it really bugs me when its called NOS instead of nitrous...thats what those fast and delerious movies gave us lol

Being a 5.0 liter mustang guy having owned 17 of them over the past twenty years with turbo’s - superchargers- NOS etc. One item that mustang guys always have is gears. (and its un noticeable) I usually have 3.73-4.10’s within 24 hours of the purchase. Being new to the 350z world and not knowing what’s std gear ratio I will guarantee you the biggest seat of the paints performance mod beside power adders is this.

A mostly stock mustang will pick-up as much .5 tenths to a full second plus on the 4 valve cars. On the street stop light to stop light it’s a HUGE deal.

i went against a couple guys with stock GT Mustangs and i didnt have any trouble keeping them in the rearview...i think Zs may have better top speed performance because these guys dont give me any trouble on the highway...never dragged one though

if its installed wrong u can seriously damage your engine
ive seen engines melt, blow up, catch on fire etc

id say if you get NITROUS go with a wet kit get it installed right make sure your engine can handle the nitrous kit and get your car tuned for the kit

and dont be a ricer...

i ran an 08 manual gt with a tune, and ran door to door with him. once from a 5 roll and from a dig until i missed 2nd .......guess theres a first time for everything. this guy claims his gt ran 13.3, which is about right, as that car stock should run around 13.5
