Default I'm Buying a 350z in near future

I am in the market for a used 350z and wanted to get existing owners comments and opinions before I buy. I will be buying within the next month or so and I am looking for something with 50,000 miles (60,000 tops) or less on it. In my area a touring model with that kind of mileage can range from $13,000 to $17,000 and from model years 2003 to 2006. I just was wondering if in your experiences are there any model years I should try to avoid or if there are any specific problems I should look for in that mileage range. I also will probably be looking for some aftermarket performance upgrades...which sites are a good place to start looking? I am also interested in the roadster...has anyone owned both the conv. and the coupe? What are the pro's and con's from the viewpoint of someone who has had both the models? Any info you can share will be appreciated....thanks

overall you should be satisfied with the Z...i have heard about an oil consumption issue on the 2003 and 2006 models...also aftermarket parts for the Z are pricey

The biggest oil consumption issues were typically with some of the 05 and 06 models. The 05 35th anniversary edition had the VQ35DE "rev-up" engine, and all the 06 coupes did too. From what I've seen, that engine has had the most problems with oil consumption.

As a rule though, 350z's of all years have solid engines and trannys. I had an 05 with 72,000 miles on it, and it was still almost as tight as a new car. They're very well-built cars, and you should be safe in any selection as long as the car has a clean history report and a good maitenance record. As far as the roadster vs. coupe issue.. I've only had coupes, so I can't help there. Good luck!

Just purchased a 2006 350Z roadster GT. I'm really impressed with the lack of wind noise with the top up. I've owned convertibles before that have alot of wind noise.

From the ones I've driven I like the roadster more, but it may not be as practical..

i love the z to death but notraxn has a point that you might want to test drive other vehicles to make sure you get the one that you absolutely want... a mazda rx8, honda civic si, acura rsx are a few i can think of off of the top of my head that you can find in that price range... but out of those the z is definately the best in my eyes considering ive driven each of them...

dont be too concerned about the mileage.. test drive it get a carfax report and go from there.. look up the blue book value on the car you plan on going to test drive so you have a start on talking the price down... i bought my 05 w/ only 18k on it about a year ago for just under 20k.. it all depends on what you are looking for.. of course the 06+ are better but its all about finding one in your price range

Well I found one, it's a Pikes Peak 03 Touring with heated leather, nav and all the other goodies. It has 62,000 on the clock but was a great deal. It came with all service records and the carfax backs them up as well. The dealer I found it at was the original selling dealer and it was a 1 owner car. The condition is as close to new as a 7 year old car could be and I paid under $11,000. As soon as the weather gets nice I'll start getting some goodies on there, breather/air intake, window tint & maybe wheels....whatever else jumps out at me. So far I love it.
